Janie Blackmore Baldwin
Sheila, Your Janie might be the Jane that I list above as 5 years old in the 1851 census. The age fits: she was born in 1846, and so in 1872 was 26 years old. Given the "Blackmore" it seems highly likely. You may want to check the 1861 and 1871 censuses of Chatham and see if they are still...

Ste Luce marriages 1843-1860 now online
I've gone through the Ste.Luce parish register and abstracted all the marriages in the period from 1843 through January 1860, and they're now online.
The Ste.Luce marriages page gives information and links to a simple or advanced search engine.

John Gibbons
Nessa, John died at the age of three, you can see his burial info at this page: http://upperstjohn.com/steluce/burialdetail.php?id=617 This is from the forthcoming Ste Luce burial records database, which I'm in the process of proofreading now. You can see he died in Sept 1858, which is why he was no...

a tantalizing clue!
I've found a clue as to Amable's ancestry. His daughter Marie married Louis Castonguay (son of Pierre Castonguay and Louise Bois) at Ste Luce. In the marriage record Father Dionne notes that the couple were third cousins. This means that one of Louis's great grandparents was a sibling of one of Amab...

New information from 1850 census: Mortality schedules
Thanks to Larry Glatz, a visitor to this website, who transcribed the Mortality Schedules of the 1850 US census of Aroostook County, and has given me permission to post them at this website. You can now see that transcription, at the 1850 Mortality Schedule page . I've also put up an alphabetical na...

Macfason = McPherson
Hi John,
Yes you are right. I forgot to add Macfason as McPherson to the page on English names in the Ste Luce parish register, I've just done so.
Thanks!

Cyrille Marquis, m. Adelaide Gauvin
In the process of trying to trace the ancestry of Philomene Marquis ( go here for the discussion and research ) I'm looking at Cyrille Marquis who married Adelaide Gauvin, and who in the 1871 New Brunswick census is living in St Leonard. Here's death/burial info I've found on him, from Assumption Ch...

Looking for Philomene Marquis
Searching for information on Philomene Marquis, I've looked through the church records of Ste Luce, St François, and St Hilaire, between Jan 1871 -- Philomene appears in the 1871 NB census -- and Jan 1880 -- when Paul Caron remarries to Domithilde Bélanger. There is no trace of Philomene: apart from...

Paul Caron, m.1838 Modeste Ouellette; m.1862 Phil. Marquis
A visitor asked me about this family. In particular two questions, which I answer below: 1. Is the Paul Caron who married Modeste Ouellette on 2 Jan 1838 at St Basile the same Paul Caron who married Philomene Marquis on 16 Nov 1862 at Ste Luce? 2. In the DGM, Philomene Marquis who married Paul Caron...

Re: Pierre (Peter) Fraser Married to Adele Roy
thanks Gary for the info, I'll make that correction.
I'd gotten those names from Mariages de Frenchville, Maine (Sainte-Luce), 1843-1970, compiled by Léon Guimond (Sillery, Québec: B. Pontbriand, 1987). Apparently Guimond was wrong about them.

Re: Edward Smith married to Ellen Yarnton
James, I'm glad the website has been helpful in your family research.
Could I suggest that you do a separate post under "families" for the Smiths where you could put that info? That would be helpful to other researchers.
Thanks.
