Robert Gardhouse and Mary Martin

2. Robert GARDHOUSE was born in 1790. He was married to Mary MARTIN on 14 May 1823 in Lanercost, Cumberland, England.⁽²⁾ The registry notes that Mary was a minor and that the wedding took place "with the consent of James Martin her natural and lawful father." He moved to Upper Canada (Ontario) in 1826. He died in 1857.

3. Mary MARTIN was born on 10 Apr 1803 in Burthinghurst, Cumberland, England. She was baptized on 10 Apr 1803 in Lanercost, Cumberland, England. ⁽³⁾ (Mary also apparently had a daughter out of wedlock prior to this marriage. The Register of the Parish of Lanercost (vol.2, p.111) notes the baptism of "Sarah, illegitimate daughter of Mary Martin of Soglin, spinster, 27 February 1823," just 3 months before her marriage to Robert Gardhouse. There is no indication of who Sarah's father was.) She died in 1854.

He was baptized on 15 Mar 1824 in Lanercost, Cumberland, England. ⁽⁴⁾ He died on 16 Mar 1824 in Desoglin, Cumberland, England. He was buried on 16 Mar 1824 in Lanercost, Cumberland, England. ⁽⁵⁾ (The register notes the burial of John Gardhouse of Sogdlin, 10 days.)
