4. Marie Desneiges OUELLETTE was born on 10 Dec 1838 and was baptized on the same day at St-Patrice church, Rivière-du-Loup, Québec. Her godparents were Victore Jalbert and Marie Ouellet.

She was married to Louis CASTONGUAY (son of Pierre CASTONGUAY and Louise BOIS) on 5 Aug 1855 in Ste-Luce, Frenchville, Maine. They couple were granted a dispensation because they were third cousins [Source: Ste Luce parish register, 1855]. (Their connection: they shared great-great-grandparents in Charles Pelletier and Marie Louise Chouinard. Thanks to Dennis Prue and Allen Voisine for tracking down this connection, which also led them to uncover the parentage of Amable Ouellette.)

They appeared in the 1860 US census in Township 16, Range 12 (the Castonia Settlement), as Louis Castonie, age 38, farmer, born in Canada, and Mary Castonie, age 23, born in Canada, and Luce (3), Lucy (2), and Peter (6 months), living next to Marie's parents Amable and Esther Ouellette.

Louis Castonguay was born about 1833. He died on 26 Nov 1869, and was buried in the cemetery at St.François, New Brunswick.

Marie Desneiges OUELLETTE and Louis CASTONGUAY had the following children:

child12 i. Louis CASTONGUAY was born on 20 Jul 1856. He was baptized on 27 Jul 1856 in Ste-Luce, Frenchville, Maine. He died on 20 Jul 1885.
child13 ii. Lucie-Anne CASTONGUAY was born on 29 Jan 1858, and was baptized on 7 Feb 1858 in Ste-Luce, Frenchville, Maine. Her godparents were Joseph Nadeau and Edithe Sirois.
child     iii. Pierre CASTONGUAY was born about Dec 1859. He is listed in the 1860 US census as 6 months old. There is however no record of his baptism at Ste Luce church, so it is likely that he died before he could be baptized.
child14 iv. Adèle CASTONGUAY.
child15 v. David CASTONGUAY.
child16 vi. Céline CASTONGUAY.
child17 vii. Magloire CASTONGUAY.
