"Jean-Louis became a sailor-fisherman and left from Granville, Manche, Normandy, France to fish for cod on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland during the 1730's, eventually opting to settle in the county of Kamouraska in New France (Quebec) around 1734. ... Jean Louis was already staying at landowner François Lévesque's house in Rivière-Ouelle to work his land and fish for him among other sailor-fishermen from France. He married Marguerite Lévesque, the daughter of rich landowning families in the area, at Rivière-Ouelle on November 25th, 1738 and was the originator of all the Anctil families in the New World (North America)."
