He was married to Elizabeth (Isabella) MARTIN on 30 Apr 1820 in Lanercost, Cumberland, England. ⁽⁴⁾ Witnesses were Jane Elliot and Robert Gardhouse. He died after 1871 in Ontario.

He died in 1880 in Ontario. He was a merchant and miller. (It is not certain that John is the son of the older John or brother of Edward or William; this is a supposition.)
